Stock Market Update | Opt2wealth Financials


Sensex falls 50 pts; SBI, ICICI, Tata Motors most active


Indian equity benchmarks continued to trade lower with marginal losses due to fall in Infosys and Reliance Industries. Larsen & Toubro, Bharti Airtel and State Bank of India too were down. However, the buying in ITC, HUL, ICICI Bank and HDFC has limited the downside.
The BSE benchmark was down 34.09 points at 17504.58 and the NSE benchmark declined 16.40 points to 5,310.90. The Indian rupee too retained its fall, depreciating by 53 paise to 55.47 against the US dollar.
Shares of Jindal Steel extended losses, falling 3.3% while Sterlite Industries, Hindalco and Tata Steel dropped 1-2%.
Engineering and construction major by sales Larsen & Toubro tanked 1.7% and top telecom operator Bharti Airtel fell 1%.
Oil & gas producers Reliance Industries and ONGC went down 0.7% each. Country's second largest software services exporter Infosys lost 1.4%.
Top lender SBI was down over 0.5% whereas its rival ICICI Bank gained over 1%.
FMCG majors ITC and HUL rallied 1% each. Housing finance company HDFC, utility vehicle maker M&M, largest mining company Coal India and drug maker Cipla rose 1% each.
In the second line shares, KSK Energy Ventures, Jai Corp, MCX India, Himadri Chemicals and Eros International rallied 3.5-10% whereas MindTree (will report earnings next week), Edelweiss Financial, Info Edge, HOEC and Phoenix Mills slipped 3.5-5%.
State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Tata Motors, HDFC, United Spirits and JSW Holdings were most active shares.

The markets closed with moderate gains with metal being the biggest gainer. The Sensex closed at 17453 (provisional), up 27 points from its previous close, and the Nifty closed at 5300 (provisional), up 12 points. The CNX Midcap index was up 0.5% while the BSE Smallcap index gained 0.9%. The market breadth was positive with advances at 934 against declines of 515 on the NSE.

Stock market Update | Opt2Wealth Financials


The BSE Sensex opened more than 80 points higher on Wednesday while the NSE benchmark has been moving around 5300 level since the start of this week. Benchmarks have been looking for a fresh trigger (which could be like fresh reforms from new finance minister or ECB meet scheduled for July 5) to extend gains.
The BSE benchmark was up 57.65 points to 17,483.36 and the NSE benchmark gained 18.65 points at 5,306.60.
State Bank of India, Tata Motors, HDFC, L&T, Tata Steel, Cipla, PNB, ICICI Bank, Sesa Goa, JSPL, Hindalco, Maruti, Hero Motocorp, BHEL and ITC were on buyers' radar.
WTI crude shot up 4% yesterday that resulted a rise of 1% in Cairn India and a fall of nearly 1% in BPCL.
However, HUL and ONGC were down over 0.5%.
The CNX Midcap Index was up 38 points at 7,505. The market breadth was strong; about four shares advanced for every share declining on the National Stock Exchange.
In the second line shares, Ashok Leyland shot up over 3% post sales numbers for June.
Gujarat Pipavav was up 2.5% as the company launched qualified institutional placement (QIP) issue. It is planning to raise USD 36.39 million.
HOEC rose 0.7%. Brigade Enterprises, GVK Power and Lanco Infratech were up 1% while NCC was down 1%.
Eveready surged 4.5%. 3i Infotech was up nearly 2% as ICICI Bank acquired 8.9 crore shares (20.51%) of the company via conversion of preference shares and loan conversion to CDR scheme.
Jet Airways shot up 2%. Idea Cellular gained 1%, even after no conclusion at cabinet meet.
Essar Oil declined 0.6% as Gujarat HC has rejected company's plea for relief in repayment of over Rs 8,000 crore due as sales tax.
Berger Paints rose 2.5% as The Hindu Business Line reported that it is looking for acquisitions both in India and abroad.
Indiabulls Securities and Usha Martin surged 4% each.

Stock Market Update | Nifty opens above 5300; Asian markets gain 0.5-1.5%


The BSE Sensex opened more than 70 points higher and the NSE Nifty above the 5300 level following positive Asian cues. Hang Seng surged 1.5% while other Asian markets gained 0.5-0.8%, indicating that they have priced in weak global manufacturing data.
The BSE benchmark rose 86.26 points or 0.50% to 17,485.24 and the NSE benchmark went up 24.30 points to 5,302.90.
The Indian rupee too appreciated by 17 paise to 55.25 as against the US dollar in today's morning trade.
Shares of Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, Sesa Goa, JP Associates, SAIL, Hindalco, Bank of Baroda, Axis Bank, GAIL, DLF, ICICI Bank, ONGC, L&T, Bharti Airtel, TCS and HDFC led market higher in early trade.
Cement stocks like ACC and Ambuja Cements moved up over 0.5% after cement sales numbers for June.
However, Coal India, BPCL, Cairn India and ITC were under pressure.
The CNX Midcap Index climbed 36 points to 7,459. About three shares advanced for every share declining on the National Stock Exchange.
In the second line shares, HOEC, Mercator, OnMobile Global, Crompton Greaves and JK Tyre gained 1.5-2%. Heidelberg Cement shot up 7%.
Gabriel India rose 1% as the company has approved bonus issue in the ratio of 1:1.
GVK Power and Infrastructure rallied 3% on various news reports. Company's USD 10 billion coal project may get Australian environment clearance. Business Standard reported that GVK plans to raise Rs 3500 crore from airport stake sale.
GMR Infrastructure was up 2% after VC Circle reported that company will swap its minority stake in the Indonesian firm with 29.2% stake in United Fiber (GMR holds 30% stake in Indonesia firm).
Sugar stocks: Shree Renuka went up 0.5%. Bajaj Hindusthan gained 2.5% and Balrampur Chini was up 1%.
MTNL rallied 3.5% after company received Rs 152.5 crore as refund from the IT Department.
Reliance Capital climbed over 1% on reports that Chinese company may be buying stake in wind power arm.
Indiabulls Securities and JM Financial surged 5%.
Godrej Properties shot up 4% on reports that company has signed Rs 770 crore equity commitment with global investors.
However, Kingfisher Airlines declined 0.4% amid ongoing strike.

NIFTY AND BANK NIFTY FUTURES 3 JULY 2012



Tomorrow trading is expected between the broad levels of 5240-5320. If the market breaches the level of 5300 on the upper side then the next resistance level will be 5320. But if nifty breaches the support level of 5260 then it may go down till the level of 5240. 


Based on the running trading scenario bank nifty future is expected to trade between the broad levels of 10240-10535Bank nifty futures can go down till the level of 10240 once it breaks the level of 10330. On the opposite side once breaking the level of 10475, it is expected to go upward till the level of 10535Bank nifty will be trading between the narrow ranges of 10330-10475.
